Car hire at Almeria airport

Car hire is very competitive and reasonable (from around 120 euros per week). There are several car hire desks in the airport arrivals lounge, some are stationed in the car park across the road and others are a short courtesy bus ride away.

The following are some examples of companies which normally allow an extra driver free of charge (a consideration if you want Tuco Tours to drive you). Some companies make a small charge for extra drivers.

Buses

It's about a 30 minute ride into town and costs 0.90 euros. They run about every half hour from the bus stop outside the terminal.

Taxis

The ten minute taxi ride to the centre will cost about 12-15 euros.

Parking

You need to bear in mind that parking in the city is a struggle. The big hotels have their own but the budget hotels do not.

There are covered car parks (at a price) or you can find free on-street parking on the fringes but expect a ten minute walk.

Hotels in Almeria

You can search for hotels and get good deals on sites such as http://www.hotelclub.net/hotel.reservations/Almeria.htm

However, you should be aware that some hotels described as "city centre" can be a long way from the action. The true city centre lies astride the Paseo de Almeria and the following are hotels which are well located for a proper appreciation of the city.
