SCENE
Manco and Mortimer retire into the Taberna and are soon joined by Indio and the gang. The hunchback recalls an earlier, awkward encounter with Mortimer in El Paso. Mortimer relies on one of his less conventional weapons to win the ensuing gunfight.

SCENE
Mortimer volunteers to open the safe without destroying the money and he does so in the yard of Indio's new base at Agua Caliente. The loot is then safely stashed away for the night.

SCENE
Manco's curiosity gets the better of him.  After dark, he goes snooping, sneaking up the stairs, through the stables and into the yard. Mortimer has had the same idea.  But the two are caught, beaten up and locked up.

LOCATION

SCENE
Indio explains his plan to the men. The two bounty hunters will be found dead with plenty of money on them - that would put the sheriff off their scent.

SCENE
The wily Indio then changes the plan - he intends to get his men involved in a gunfight with the two bounty hunters. That, he figures, would leave him and Nino with all the money.
The prisoners are released.
Cucillo is framed (and shot) for the killing of one of his own men and for letting the prisoners go. The men are sent from the yard to get the prisoners back.

SCENE
But Groggy is suspicious and sends Nino crashing through the door with a knife between the shoulder blades.  He challenges Indio about his intentions.

SCENE
Meanwhile, the gunfight has developed in the streets outside.

Manco has to duck as four bullets ricochet off the wall.

Two of the gang now think they have Manco cornered in the house across the street.
