SCENE
A train arrives at Cattle Corner carrying an anonymous harmonica player who is confronted by three men in dusters. Harmonica kills all three.

Tabernas (Western Leone, Arroyo del Verdelecho)

SCENE
At Sweetwater, the McBain family are murdered by a gang of cold-blooded killers.

La Calahorra (Estacion)
SCENE
The new Mrs. McBain arrives at Flagstone and sets off for Sweetwater to discover what has happened to her new family.

The story unfolds of a desperate railroad entrepreneur, his ruthless enforcers (headed by the steely-eyed Frank), the secret of McBain who had wanted to build a new town by the railroad, the dignified widow eventually determined to realise her late husband's dream, the likeable rogue (Cheyenne) who has been blamed for the murder of the McBains, and the avenging harmonica player seeking retribution for the murder of his brother.

La Calahorra (disused railway)

SCENE
Harmonica is captured by Frank and held on the train but Cheyenne comes to his rescue along the train roof.

LOCATION
La Calahorra (estacion)

SCENE
At the hotel in Flagstone, Sweetwater goes up for auction while Frank's men seek to drive down the price through intimidation. Harmonica cashes in the wanted Cheyenne to raise the $10,000 dollars needed for a fair price.

LOCATION
Guadix (Hernan Valle railway)

SCENE
As things begin to unravel, Frank rides back to the train to find his gang, and the loathsome capitalist (Mr Choo-Choo to Cheyenne), killed by Cheyenne's men.

Frank is finally drawn into the inevitable showdown at Sweetwater, to be told the motive for Harmonica's revenge only at the point of dying.

SCENE
The railroad had finally reached Sweetwater through a deep cutting.
